Finojaho is a 2 column, blue colored wordpress theme. The theme support widgets and includes theme options. Finojaho is designed to support multiple languages. If you are interested, you may help me to get the theme translated into your own language. To do so, please download the theme and open the lang folder. Open the file using PoEdit and sent me the translated file. I will update them accordingly. Look at the demo site for a feel of the theme.

Recommended Plugin

This theme works well with the following plugin:

  1. WP-PageNavi – Provides a clean, numbered navigation.

Theme Features

  1. Build in FlickR code. You may add your own FlickR ID or if you don’t have an account on FlickR, then you may show public pictures. Simply add the FlickR widget and set to show public pictures and add your keywords. This feature is good if you want to share popular pictures on roses+red or travel+pictures or cd+covers. Please remember to set the keyword just as i have shown them (eg. travel+pictures).
  2. Built in Twitter code. Just add the Twitter widget and add your (or someone else) Twitter user name and you are done.
  3. Better Recent post. It handles thumbnails automatically. The thumbnail will search for image tag (either local files or external files) and collects the relevant alt and description tag as well.
  4. Better Recent Comment code. Nicely done to make even short comments look good.
  5. Drop down version for Pages, Archives and Categories. If you are one of those regular bloggers, then you would have a long list of archives or categories. This can neatly display them in a functional way.
  6. About Me on the sidebar. On the sidebar, just after the search form you can customize a small About Me/Website. You can a short description about you or your website. You can add a picture as well.
  7. Support for ads. Built in support for Adsense or any other ad code (you will need to cut and paste the code if its not adsense).
  8. Support for 125 banner ads. Simple way to add advertising revenue to your website.
  9. Previous and Next post. Small summary/excerpt for previous and next post. Thumbnail is inserted automatically, no worries here.
  10. Related post and related categories. Visitors can quickly find similar post with out having to search or browse your site.
  11. Stand out comment form. It is designed to invite everyone to post a comment.
  12. Share button. Clutter free, easy to share button. Looks great and functional. Oh yeah, multilingual as well.

Requirement

So far, i have only tested it with WordPress version 2.8.4 and above and i do not see any problems. If you are using version 2.8.3 and lower, please upgrade your wordpress as there is a serious security problem. Upgrade to save yourselves a lot of trouble.

Suggestions

Got any, then just leave a comment below and i will see how i can add them.

  1. Jr:

    How do I add a logo in the header section

  2. admin:

    Right now, the theme allows you to add a picture (75px by 75px) on the sidebar, just under the search bar. If you want to manually add a logo, then open up the theme folder, go to the image folder and add your logo to the header-trans6.png file. Then save the file and its done.

  3. melikaya:

    Is it possible to change the colors scheme?

  4. admin:

    Do you mean the background color? If yes, then you can. The header and footer image is transparent (.png). Open up the style.css file and go to body { .. section and change the background-color to something else.

  5. Asmar Edyunus:

    Dear ADMIN,
    How can I customize the About Me on the side bar?
    Thank you.

  6. admin:

    Login to admin page, then go to Finojaho Settings page and there you can edit/modify your About Me section. You can add a picture, edit the title and text. The picture will be resized to 75px by 75px when displayed on your browser.

  7. Frammus:

    How can I get rid of the following buttons which automatically appeared on my blog page: LOG OUT; VALID XHTML; XFN; WORDPRESS?

  8. admin:

    You will need to enable widgets on your sidebar. Login → Finojaho Settings → Widgets. Just move/drag widgets from the left to the right. There, you can play around with Finojaho built-in widgets like FlickR, Twitter and custom built category, pages and archives. When you add Meta to the sidebar, you will get the buttons you see now. Only logged in admin will see the LOGOUT button. Normal visiors will not see it, they can only see LOGIN.

    Hope that solves your problem.

  9. Frammus:

    nvm–I figured it out!

  10. Rizza:

    hi admin, is it possible to make the photo in the side bar bigger than 75×75 .. say 150×175 maybe? thanks

  11. admin:

    Sure. Open up the style.css file or go to the theme editor (Appearance → Editor) and find the following:

    .aboutme .aboutmeimg

    Its on line 194. Change the height and width to any number you like.

  12. nascent_grammer:

    I seem to be having a problem with displaying my search results. I am not sure if it is the theme or some bug associated with my WordPress installation. All the CSS elements are normally centered, however when you do a search, it becomes left aligned, the background also seems to be affected. The content is correctly displayed – just a problem with the theme/css. Advice?

  13. admin:

    Its an error with the css. Just edit the css file on line 176 (or find the term →.search) and replace it with .right .search and it will fix the problem. I will update finojaho theme soon to fix the problem.

  14. Peter:

    I’ve installed the twitter widget with my username, but its not doing anything, not sure if I missed something? Great theme by the way, thanks for any help.

  15. Hannah:

    I don’t have the header-trans6png file in my download so is there another way I can add a logo?

  16. admin:

    Hi Hannah,

    You need to update the theme file to version 1.67, the latest version. You can download using the link below or update from your wordpress dashboard (WordPress → Apprearance). You can add your logo under WordPress → Apprearance → Theme Options.

  19. Gary Miller:

    How can I have a picture or avatar appear for the author of a comment to a blog post. One has requested this.

    Thanks,

    gary

  20. admin:

    Hi Gary,

    To enable avatar, go to your wordpress dashboard → Settings → Discussion. At the bottom of that page is Avatars. Select ‘Show Avatar’ and you can see avatars for comments.

  21. Gary Miller:

    Thanks alot, the avatars are working fine now.

    One other thing you could advise me on. I want to allow the readers to subscribe to get updates on postings etc and installed the subscribe2 plugin and then added the widget for it. Problem was that how this displayed, most of the box got cut off on the right pannel of the blog so it was not functional. How would I go about altering things so the box fit better?

    Do you know of a better plugin to use instead?

    Thanks,

    Gary

  22. admin:

    Hi Gary,

    I personally have not tried that plugin. However, i cant see it on your website. Can you add it to the sidebar and i can see what is the problem and possible solutions. You can leave a reply here or contact me using the info below:

  23. Gary Miller:

    Thanks, I added the widget for it back to the sidebar.

    Gary

  24. admin:

    Hi Gary,

    The solution:

    Go to admin page → Appearance → Editor. Then select the Stylesheet file (style.css). Go to the last line (scroll to the bottom) and add a new line with the following item:

    .right .s2_form_widget .search{height:auto}

    Save the file and thats it.

  25. Gary Miller:

    That did it! So pleased with how all works so well now around your beautiful template.

    Gary

  26. admin:

    Hi Gary,

    Glad it solved the problem. Just leave a comment here if you need more help. I’m more than happy to assist.

  27. kevin:

    Hi, I am trying to set one of these up for my son and he wants an image as the header at the top of the page rather than the text, is this possible? Many thanks!!

  28. admin:

    Hi Kevin,

    Unfortunately, no. Finojaho is not design to have an image as the header.

  29. Kevin:

    Thanks for the reply, although I did manage to do it myself in the end so its possible although not perfect he is happy :)

  30. Kevin:

    PS the site is inked here if you want to take a look..

  31. admin:

    Hi Kevin,

    Nice job. Just a small detail, the top header is missing the drop shadow. Other than that, it looks great.

  32. mayna:

    Would like to use as a static web – love the colors – don’t see a way to put footers – I have checked not to have the discussions and comments at the bottom – but they are still there. How do I get footers on the site?

  33. admin:

    Hi Mayna,

    I have received your email and have replied with the steps to disable it. Anyway, i will include the solution here just in case someone needs it.

    The steps are as follows:

    1. Go to Admin Dashboard → Appearance → Editor
    2. On the right hand side, click on Single Page (page.php)
    3. Find the following words/codes:

    <!-- comments-->
    <?php comments_template(); ?>
    <!-- /comments-->

    4. Change that to this:

    <!-- comments-->
    <?php if (!is_home()) comments_template(); ?>
    <!-- /comments-->

    The statement above will check if it is on the homepage or front page. And if its on the front page, don’t display the comment template. If its not on the homepage, then display the comments template.

    I hope that solves your problem. You can contact me using the information below:

  34. Colleen P.:

    Hello: (newbie here)
    I’m interested in incorporating the Typekit plug in with your Finojaho theme. I have the appropriate javascript lines to paste into your code. However, I do not see where the tag is that I should paste into. Could you help me with this?

    I appreciate your time.

  35. admin:

    Hi Colleen,

    Are you referring to this plugin? If yes, then the plugin will paste the code for you automatically. If you want to manually paste the javascript code, then you can do the following:

    1. Go to Dashboard → Appearance → Editor and select the header.php file.

    2. Paste your javascript code after the following line:

    <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo('pingback_url'); ?>" />

    3. Save the file and you are done.

  36. Harry:

    Hi,

    1. Is there any chance I can delete the logo from the header section?

    2. How do I control how many posts are showed on the website, not on the sidebar?

    Thanks every so much for your help.

    Harry

  37. admin:

    Hi Harry,

    1. What logo? I can’t see any logo for the Finojaho theme.

    2. You can go to Dashboard → Setting → Reading and change the “Blog pages show at most” number. Default is set to 10. You can change that to any number.

  38. Harry:

    Hi Admin,

    The logo I am referring to is the FINOJAHO image that is located in the right hand box at the top of the image. I added an image there but I want to delete it. Is that possible?

    Thanks

  39. admin:

    Hi Harry,

    Aha.. the Finojaho image.

    You can go to Dashboard → Finojaho Settings and click on settings. Look for About Me section. There is a box where you can specify the url for the image. Just delete the default url and the image is gone.

  40. Colleen:

    Hello again:

    I am trying to convert everyone at our small company to Google Apps. I need to paste meta tag code into the homepage in the section. Is this something I can do with your template. I’m imagining I need to modify the index & replace it on the server. However, I don’t want to do this until I know that it is recommended.

    Thank you for your time & template :) C.

  41. admin:

    Hi Collen,

    If you want to add the meta on every single page on your website, do this:

    1. Go to Dashboard → Appearance → Editor and select the header.php file.

    2. Paste your meta tag code after the following line:

    <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo('pingback_url'); ?>" />

    3. Save the file and you are done.

    If you want to add the meta on your homepage or front page only, do this:

    1. Go to Dashboard → Appearance → Editor and select the header.php file.

    2. Use the following code:

    <?php
    if (is_home() || is_front_page()) { ?>
    replace this whole line with your meta tag
    <?php } ?>

    3. Paste the code above after the following line:

    <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo('pingback_url'); ?>" />

    4. Save the file and you are done.

    5. Absolutely important: For step number 2 above, remember to replace this whole line with your meta tag with your meta tag code.

    Hope that solves your problem. If not, just email me using this:

  42. Colleen:

    I really appreciate your fast response. I’ve pasted in the code so I hope Google will verify.

    Is it possible to add the Videopress plug in & run it with your template?

    Thank you, C.

  43. admin:

    Hi Collen,

    I never tried videopress. But you can give it a try. Just make a post, don’t publish it but simply click on the ‘preview post’ button. It should give you a view of how the post will look like when you actually publish it. I believe the plugin will do the necessary adjustment to add the codes. Plus you can adjust the width and height of the video.
